Root Canal Therapy

MINT dentistry is a highly advanced, premier dental facility that provides comprehensive and compassionate care for a wide variety of complex conditions. Our goal is to help you achieve a gorgeous smile you feel confident flaunting, which starts with good oral health. The board-certified doctors and dental professionals at MINT dentistry recommend root canal therapy for the treatment of severely decayed teeth in situations where a dental filling is no longer a viable option. Also known as endodontic treatment, root canal therapy treats the infected tooth, preventing decay from spreading to other teeth and in most cases, preventing the need for tooth extraction. The MINT dentistry team is aware of the fear that sometimes accompanies these types of procedures. However, we want you to rest assured that we will prioritize your comfort and care by utilizing state-of-the-art technology and cutting-edge techniques to complete your therapy with precision and accuracy. Our office also offers sedation dentistry to help ease fears and anxiety and help you relax during your procedure. We invite you to schedule a consultation at MINT dentistry to learn more about root canal therapy.

An infection in the pulp of a tooth can be caused by a deep crack, a cavity, or physical trauma. Some of the most common signs that you may have an infected tooth (and need to seek treatment) are tooth or jaw pain, swelling or discoloration of the gums (around the affected tooth), and changes in the color of the tooth. If the infected pulp is not removed, it will become increasingly painful as the infection spreads to other parts of your mouth. A root canal addresses the infection and stops it from spreading to other teeth or your blood stream.

I would definitely recommend! They stayed late for me so I can get a root canal and a crown great customer service!

I had a tooth emergency yesterday and MINT Dentistry, Decatur location, came to my rescue. I called about 10am and was given a 12:30 appointment for a cleaning as a new patient. I showed up in excruciating pain (3 days worth), with a hole in my tooth begging for a root canal. I anticipated being given a consultation and plan of care before being sent home with a follow-up appointment. Dr. Perlow went above and beyond and along with her assistant, Lanai, was able to do the procedure during the visit! This was my 1st encounter with MINT Dentistry and it will not be my last. From the manager, Sharon, who came back to hold my hand and whisper words of encouragement to Dominique, who tweaked my care plan, everyone was pleasant and professional! Dr. Perlow was hilarious and her Playlist is pretty good. Don't take my word for it. Give them a try! I'm back at work today, pain free!

Wow I am so relieved I found this place! I originally went to aspen dental & they barely examined me and told me I needed a root canal and had early gum disease and said everything would be $2,700. Went to Mint and they said none of that was true. Just needed some fillings and they got me in the same week! Spent $950. I’m also super anxious in general especially at the dentist and they were very comforting and provided nitrous as well. Also, I have no insurance and they provide a yearly plan with discounts. Could not recommend more!

I went in for a very unpleasant root canal with preconceived anxieties based on the last dentist visit I had in NYC. However at Mint Denistry my entire visit was great!. The receptionists were helpful and warm. Kayla the dental assistant was clearly experienced and gentle. I explained to Dr. Dwaram that I have a high tolerance to local anesthetic and he took his time to make sure I was numb and comfortable before performing any painful work. Im thankful for his kindness and patience. Even Dr.Bell gave me a much needed pep talk in the lobby because she saw how nervous I was. Overall this location has changed my perception of a dentist visit and I will be back until my smile looks like the pictures.

Your root canal therapy appointment will begin with you settling into one of our treatment chairs, where you will be given a pair of our MINT dentistry sunglasses and offered a pair of our Beats headphones. We want you to feel at ease and relaxed while you undergo treatment, so the MINT dentistry team will help you choose the most effective and appropriate type of sedation for your root canal therapy. Many patients request nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or oral-conscious sedation to help them remain comfortable during a root canal.

During an endodontic procedure, one of our board-certified dentists will assess the inner chamber of your tooth and then carefully remove the infected pulp utilizing state-of-the-art tools and techniques. From there, the inside of the empty chamber will be thoroughly sterilized to remove any lingering debris. Once the tooth is cleaned, it will be filled with a special material to seal and protect the tooth. In most cases, a custom-made crown will be placed over the treated tooth to protect it.

Depending on what sedation was used, you may need to have a responsible adult take you home after your procedure. Your mouth may feel sensitive or swollen, but this should not last more than a few days and your doctor may prescribe a pain reliever. You should schedule a follow-up appointment for six months after your root canal. Our team will check to make sure the infection is gone and that your mouth has healed. After that, you should continue to schedule annual dental exams and bi-annual cleanings to maintain your dental health.
