Examine, diagnose, and treating teeth and gum disease, injuries, and malformations of teeth, gums and related periodontics for adults and children
Examine, diagnose and treat diseases of the nerve, pulp by capping, removal of pulp from chamber, root canal, and other dental tissues affecting oral hygiene and retention of teeth for adults and children
Fit and design prosthodontics dental appliances or provide preventive and corrective care
Administer anesthetics to limit the amount of pain experienced by patients during procedures
Advise or instruct patients regarding preventive dental care, the causes and treatment of dental problems, or oral health care services
Write prescriptions for antibiotics and other medications as warranted; Apply fluoride or sealants to teeth
Bleach, clean, or polish teeth to restore natural color
Fill, extract and replace teeth, using rotary and hand instruments, dental appliances, medications, and surgical implements
Fill pulp chamber and canal with endodontic materials
Eliminate irritating margins of fillings and corrects occlusions, using dental instruments
Remove pathologic tissues or diseased tissue using surgical instruments
Fit and adjust prosthodontics appliances in patient’s mouth; fabricates prosthodontics appliances, such as space maintainers, bridges, dentures, and obturating appliances
Required: Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS); 1 year experience; License to practice dentistry in Texas.
