Endodontic Retreatment

At MINT dentistry, our board-certified doctors are experienced in a wide range of comprehensive services, including root canal therapy and advanced endodontic care. When a tooth shows signs of infection following a root canal, our experts may recommend an endodontic retreatment to restore a healthy, vibrant smile. There are varying factors that may cause additional issues following root canal treatment months or even years down the road. In some cases, the infected accessory canals were not detected during the initial treatment or a new infection might have developed in the tooth. Like the initial root canal therapy, an endodontic retreatment debrides the internal areas of the tooth to eliminate the current disease and reshapes the canals. If you notice tooth pain or other signs of infection after a root canal, schedule an exam at MINT dentistry to see if an endodontic retreatment can bring health and wellness back to your smile.

The best candidates for an endodontic retreatment would be those who have had a root canal but are still experiencing signs of disease within a tooth. Common symptoms may include pain or discomfort, swelling, or an abscess involving the tooth that received root canal therapy. If an endodontic retreatment isn't an ideal treatment option, an apicoectomy (root tip removal) or tooth extraction may be performed at MINT dentistry. In your initial consultation at one of our premier practice locations, one of our qualified practitioners will help you decide the best plan of action to treat the infection and save your tooth if possible.

I don’t know what the hell the CEO of Mint Dentisry is doing to make the staff provide excellent customer service consistently but whatever it is, he needs to bottle up his magic and sell it to other business owners for a discount so they’ll be enticed to buy it to get their employees to treat people like the staff does at MD. Nowadays it’s a challenge to go into an establishment to get consistently good customer service from everyone. However, each time I go to MD, the staff is always pleasant, some are super nice and friendly but at minimum I’ve always had a pleasant interaction with the staff. Unlike my former dentist office used to do for 15 years (ie G.E.D.), I have not been severely overcharged although I have always had pretty good insurance. I’ve not received any outlandish back billing like I’d get from GED. Every time i go to Mint dentistry and check out, Im always waiting for them to ask me to pay some high price for this, that, or the other because for 15 years this is exactly what my former dentist staff would do at checkout despite the fact I’ve always had insurance. To date it hasn’t happened here and I’ve been going almost a year. All i can do is thank my former dentist office for going down hill over the years and the Mint denistry CEO for bombarding the radio station I listen to with constant advertisements because if my dentist office hadn’t gotten so bad that I got sick of them and knew I needed to change and I didn’t constantly hear the Mint denistry commercials, I never would have left G.E.D. especially since it’s right down the street from my house. But so glad i made the switch. Only wish I’d done it sooner because I could’ve said hundreds of dollars in my pocket and some headaches by simply making the switch.

Kadam and Crystal were amazing! Very tentative, asked me important questions, and made me feel so comfortable. I’ve been a patient here for more than 2 years and I love it here!

Absolutely excellent experience from beginning to end. I needed to get two broken front bottom teeth (yikes!) fixed in a short timeframe for a wedding event (ahh!) and it was MINT Heights to the rescue. They put a rush on my temporary crowns and did a beautiful job putting them in. I felt like a million bucks with a complete smile, even if the crowns were temporary. Today I went back for the permanent crowns and am BLOWN away by the quality of the crowns (they are a perfect match- wow wow wow). I cannot even tell they aren’t real teeth, both in how they look and how they feel- which tells you how good of a job they did. Customer service was unparalleled. From Joshua at the front desk helping accommodate me for appointments to the dentists and hygienists. Juanita, you were AMAZING. I could tell how much you care about your patients and the quality of their care. I am so bummed I can’t remember the first dentist who helped prep and design the crowns, but he was 10/10 awesome. The final dentist I had today, Dr. Dangtran, thanks for the laughs and for doing such an impeccable job making sure the final crowns were perfect. You knocked its out of the park! All in all, I HIGHLY recommend this location. I am so grateful I chose to come to them and will return whenever needed. :)

Providing outstanding care and comfort for our patients is a top priority at MINT dentistry. Upon arrival at our office, you will be seated comfortably in one of our treatment rooms and offered a pair of Beats headphones for your listening enjoyment. Endodontic retreatment is performed under local anesthetic, but sedation dentistry options might also be used to help you further relax. Once your mouth is prepared, our team will reopen the tooth and take out the filling material placed during the previous process. We will thoroughly clean and disinfect the tooth and screen for any hidden accessory canals. The tooth will then be strengthened with a new filling material and sealed. After the tooth has fully healed, a new dental restoration (typically a crown) may be placed to return function and cosmetic appeal to your smile.

Following your root canal retreatment, you may want to take it easy for a few days to rest and recover. A member of our staff will go over specific instructions to help you heal after your endodontic procedure, which will include the recommended way to clean your teeth and gums. A prescription for antibiotics or pain relievers may be provided and should be taken as directed. Keeping up with a great home oral care routine, including daily flossing and brushing, can help minimize the risk of future oral issues. Additionally, we encourage you to schedule routine dental exams at MINT dentistry so our practitioners can monitor your tooth and total oral health.
